How do I make the most of drop-in tutoring?

Drop-In Tutoring is similar to a professor’s office hours and you can get quick answers for projects, homework, or class material.

Individual Appointments

During an individual appointment, you can get one-on-one support to address serious academic challenges in a particular subject area. Upon request, Tutors can provide you with supplemental worksheets, practice problems, and additional resources to strengthen your learning.

Group Appointments

During a group appointment, you and up to 4 of your friends or classmates can receive guidance with challenging homework problems and receive assistance with troubling course topics. Upon request, Tutors can provide you with supplemental worksheets, practice problems, and additional resources to strengthen your learning.

Who facilitates Peer Tutoring?

All Peer Tutors are current Orfalea College of Business students and are able to provide you with extensive support in adapting to study skills, developing learning strategies and approaches, and strengthening your understanding of course content. Each Tutor offers 4 hours of Drop-In Tutoring per week and is available for 30 minute or 1 hour appointments.

How do I schedule a one-on-one appointment?

To schedule an appointment please click the green appointment button at the top of this page or visit a Peer Tutor during drop-in. Tutors can meet with students between 8AM — 8PM, Monday through Friday, depending on availability.

How many people can participate in group appointments?

Students can schedule an appointment with up to 4 friends, so 5 students total.

Do you get units for attending Orfalea Tutoring?

There are some Supplemental Workshops on campus for which you can receive credit, but you will not receive units for attending the tutoring provided by the Orfalea Tutoring Program. Additionally, attendance is not required for Drop-In Tutoring—students can attend regularly or periodically. Drop-In Tutoring is designed to be accessible and available for students, depending on their needs throughout the quarter.

Where is Drop-In Tutoring held?

Drop-In Tutoring is held in the newly-renovated computer lab on the 3rd floor. The tutoring spaces are marked as “Space 1,” “Space 2,” and “Space 3.” There are schedules posted to indicate what tutoring is in what space. Tutors are not permitted to meet with students off-campus.
